Have you heard about Suspended Coffees?
This anonymous act of charity is the advanced purchase of a cup of coffee for someone in need of a helping hand. Originating in Naples (caffè sospeso) over 100 years ago, this movement has now taken flight worldwide so we can all brighten somebody’s day in just 3 simple steps.
1. Find your nearest supporting cafe
We came to Casa Sibilla, Brixton and had a warm welcome from the Italian barista Paula:
“In Italy we don’t give much to charity, but you can always have a coffee”.
2. Buy a coffee for yourself and pay for a second one. The barista gives you your coffee, then logs the second coffee as “suspended”
3. Someone a little down on their luck can come and enjoy a free coffee and yours will taste even sweeter!
